InboxKit allows you to safely delete mailboxes while ensuring you do not lose any unused value from your subscription or credits. Deleting a mailbox follows a scheduled cancellation system, which means the mailbox continues to work until shortly before the next renewal—so you get full usage of what you’ve already paid for.
This guide explains how to delete a mailbox, the difference between admin and non-admin mailbox deletion, and what happens after deletion.
Step-by-Step: How to Delete a MailboxOpen your InboxKit dashboard
Click Mailboxes from the left sidebar
Find the mailbox you want to delete
Click More on the right side of the mailbox row
Select Settings
At the bottom of the mailbox settings page, you will see the Danger Zone section.
For non-admin mailboxes, you will see:
Remove Mailbox
For admin mailboxes, you will see:
Remove Admin Mailbox (with a warning)
What Happens After You Delete a Mailbox? The mailbox is not deleted immediately.
Instead:
It stays active until a few hours before the next renewal.
This ensures you get the full value of your paid billing period.
Once the renewal date arrives, the mailbox is fully removed from the system.
Deleting Non-Admin Mailboxes (Standard Mailboxes)If you delete a non-admin mailbox:
The mailbox is scheduled for deletion as described above
Your domain setup remains intact
Your subscription mailboxes (slots) open up again
Example: If you had 10 mailbox slots and delete 1 mailbox → you now have 1 free slot to add a new mailbox
Safe to delete anytime
Ideal when replacing old users
Useful for rotating mailboxes
Perfect for freeing up mailbox slots
Deleting Admin Mailboxes (Critical Warning)Each domain has one admin mailbox responsible for:
Domain configuration
DNS authentication
Mailbox provisioning
Forwarding and routing
If you delete the admin mailbox, then:
The entire domain setup is permanently deletedThis includes:
All mailboxes under the domain
DNS configurations
Routing settings
Warmup data
Sequencer connections
This action cannot be undone.
Only delete an admin mailbox if you want to completely remove the entire domain from InboxKit.
Important NotesDeleting a mailbox does not instantly free up a slot — it frees up after cancellation is processed, but InboxKit automatically marks the slot available after deletion for subscription-based plans.
Admin mailbox deletion = full domain deletion and loss of all associated mailboxes
Scheduled cancellation helps avoid wasting credits or paid time
You cannot restore a mailbox once the domain or mailbox is permanently deleted
